OK, the machine having problems is an HP Pavilion a1235c.

I've narrowed the source changes down to a 15-minute window from
201108291445Z (works) to 201108291500Z (panics as in previous messages).

Further refinement will have to wait until late tonight or early
tomorrow morning.
