 I can confirm that this also fails on NetBSD 4.0 using
 pkgsrc-2007Q4.  Exact same error at the same location.  This package
 is also marked as vulnerable now.
 
 cc -v reports:
 gcc version 4.1.2 20061021 prerelease (NetBSD nb3 20061125)
 
 It appears that there are no official ffmpeg releases and people
 are recommended to use source off their source repository. 
 Although the pkgsrc Makefile has a file reference to download from
 sourceforge, I'm unable to see the released files list
 on the sourceforge project page.
 
 Perhaps we could make the package ffmpeg-current which would
 querysources via svn and try to build them?
