 Thats what I had thought but the kde code itself has changed from
 
         union {
                 struct cmsghdr cm;
                 char control[CMSG_SPACE(sizeof(int))];
         } control_un;
 
 which wouldn't compile to
 
         QVarLengthArray<char> control_un(qMax(sizeof(cmsghdr), 
 static_cast<size_t>(CMSG_SPACE(sizeof(int)))));
 
 which will.
