I spun up a new VM and am not seeing the same issue. Possibly related to a second active pkgsrc tree and installation in /opt/pkg? You can close this issue...thanks.

From looking at the output of the install phase, it seems a bit mixed up. Your LOCALBASE is /usr/pkg, but it seems to be installing to /root/perl5? So the pkgsrc infrastructure is getting confused because it's pointed to inconsistent locations that defy its overall expectations. Dave |
