Here are the settings on my AXPpci33 with a DE204:

[   1.0000000] lc0 at isa0 port 0x300-0x31f iomem 0xd0000-0xd07ff irq 5: DE204-AB
[   1.0000000] lc0: address xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx, 128KB RAM, changed 64KB window to 2KB


Anyway, the reason the DE205 didn't work when the DE422 was installed is because the DE422 was also configured for that same memory range:

[   1.0000000] depca2 at eisa0 slot 4: DEC DE422 Ethernet
[   1.0000000] depca2: shared memory at 0xd0000-0xdffff


So, you had to devices trying to decode the same address.

Interesting!  Did the DE422 actually work??
