NetBSD 9 kernel complaints about new BIOS
On a PC Engine apu2 box that runs NetBSD 9, I updated the BIOS from
4.14.0.2 to 4.16.0.1. The machine boots fine, but there are complaints
in dmesg. I've attached a before/after diff with the same kernel.
Much of this is just a new coreboot date string but there is:
+ACPI Error: \_SB.P000: This object type [Device] never contains data and cannot be evaluated (20190405/nseval-222)
+acpicpu0: failed to obtain CPU object
-acpicpu0: T0: I/O, lat 1 us, pow 0 mW, 100 %
-acpicpu0: T1: I/O, lat 1 us, pow 0 mW, 88 %
-acpicpu0: T2: I/O, lat 1 us, pow 0 mW, 76 %
-acpicpu0: T3: I/O, lat 1 us, pow 0 mW, 64 %
-acpicpu0: T4: I/O, lat 1 us, pow 0 mW, 52 %
-acpicpu0: T5: I/O, lat 1 us, pow 0 mW, 40 %
-acpicpu0: T6: I/O, lat 1 us, pow 0 mW, 28 %
-acpicpu0: T7: I/O, lat 1 us, pow 0 mW, 16 %
and I don't know if that's worrying, a bug in 9, a bug in the bios, or
something else.
(If I boot 10 there are no complaints but also no T lines printed. A
lot of other changes which look like improvements in 10: more info, com0
attaches via acpi0 instead of isa0, amdccp.)
My real question: is it ok to run 9 on a box with the new bios (that is
the router that other people rely on for videoconferencing)? So far I
have upgraded the box that is cold spare and for testing.
