Yes, I did succeed loading sysinst with your patched kernel and the md2a device. So I _think_ I could probably mount floppies from /dev/md2a instead of /dev/fd0 but I'm not positive. (Why would they have two separate devices if they're exactly the same anyway?) So I'd lean towards not removing fd0 unless there is a real reason to do so, but that's just going on intuition.

Hmm, but you succeed booting installer using md2a device with patched kernel ?
