We have an old HAL that doesn't support the newer chip is my guess. You 
could try the slightly newer HAL I'm using on my Eee PC:

  http://ftp.netbsd.org/pub/NetBSD/misc/jmcneill/atheee.patch

I have patches for the newest HAL as well, but they didn't work on my Eee 
PC and I haven't tested them on any other Atheros devices, if I can find 
them I'll let you know.
