IIRC the ibmnws has some S3 chip on the mainboard. The pnozz at sbus  
driver is special since it contains additional voodoo specific to  
Tadpole's implementation in the sparcbook 3 series - the framebuffer  
reads prior to register accesses are unnecessary on other machines  
but they shouldn't hurt either and turning them into a macro which  
can be empty on other arches is trivial.
Didn't some IBM prep or chrp boxes ship with P9100 cards?
