Ok, in the meantime I've installed NetBSD on an other disk (RZ29L aka
ST34171) as sd0, this is successfully booting and is running as expected.
I've removed the boot with intallboot -c from sd1 with the runnings system
from sd0, copied the sd0 /boot to sd1 and made a new installboot -v
/dev/rsd1c /usr/mdec/sdboot.
I get the same as before:
>>> sh dev
VMS/VMB ADDR DEVTYPE NUMBYTES RM/FX WP DEVNAM
REV

>>> b dka100
?06 HLT INST

...but I tried dka1, then it boots from sd1 but is asking fro the root and
the swap device:

Ehem...please don't call me an Idiot, but what is going on here? Why can't
I boot from dka100 and why it boots from dka1?

Holm
