I will likely add that.  I didn't use it because I wasn't aware of it
at the time I designed and implemented what I sketched.

It does have the advantage of not suffering from the race I outlined,
the one that led me to make my XFC idle instruction test the time since
the last REI.

Well, the 1.4T idle loop is just the pre-diff text of the diff I sent,
so you can see what's there.
