Indeed -- though one should suffice I think. And libc (and maybe some applications) should use this _same_ setting to configure its(their) _default_ behaviour too. (And for the record, using a config file (or anything in the filesystem) in this case is just wrong, and too expensive to boot.) For those of us who don't need IPv6 (or IPv4?) and wish to save the kernel code space for something else, the sysctls should still be there of course, but perhaps become read-only, or at least refuse to be set to a value which could not work. -- Greg A.
