No, that happens independently of the normal Var_Export stuff.
That would probably require an explicit knob I think.

Or the MAKEFLAGS stuff could perhaps be redone, to leverage Var_Export,
then the answer would probably be "yes".

I'd tackle that as a separate commit though.
